Why get certified ?

  • Certification can mean faster access to government grants or aid specifically targeting businesses owned by women, minorities, veterans or other groups.
  • Many federal, state and local government contracts require that a percentage of business goes to minority and women owned businesses; certification can help validate your eligibility to participate in these opportunities.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

While eligibility criteria is different for each certification sought, all applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents (green card holders). Please see the complete list here

This is a common, yet complicated area of eligibility. In some instances, the answer may be ‘yes’ provided both firms do not operate similar businesses and/or within similar industries. In our experience, common ownership in a similar business/industry is often grounds for denial, and at the very least, causes an application to be flagged for potential fraud.

How well a company markets its certification is the largest determinant of the value it will generate. If your company conducts C2C business, identifying your company as a WOB, MOB or VOB may help to attract customers specifically seeking to support organizations in these categories. If your company conducts B2B business, your certification status may help your customers achieve supplier diversity goals or targets by partnering with you.

The eligibility criteria varies for each certificate. Please click on the below links to learn more:

No charges are levied before applying for any certificate. Your payment will be taken in the application itself after you have completed the form and uploaded the necessary documentation. Our pricing is straightforward:
  • Application fee - $99
  • Renewable annually
We only commit to 7-10 days if all documents are correct. Please expect delay if the documents and/or requirements are not complete.

Significance of the name 58joralemon

58 Joralemon Street is an Brooklyn, NY address that isn’t an address at all. This Brooklyn Heights brownstone is actually an elaborate facade for an MTA subway vent and emergency exit.

58 Joralemon could be easily missed if you weren’t looking for it. The structure is in the middle of a cobblestone Brooklyn block lined with trees and similar brownstones, but if you look closely, you will see that the windows have been blacked out, the front yard replaced with a black structure and emerging from the ground by the front door is a red pipe that reads, “Joralemon Street Tunnel IRT 4,5 Line”.

More and more, individual customers, institutional clients and providers of financial and other resources are seeking to support or partner with businesses owned by historically disenfranchised groups. Many of these companies, small businesses in partifular, do not have the certifications in place that can help make finding them easier. Our application’s name is an homage to the many minority, woman and veteran owned businesses that are hiding in plain sight. 58joralemon aims to help them be seen.
