Quickstart: Post Your First Job and Screen a Candidate
Go from zero to a fully AI-scored candidate in about 10 minutes.
This tutorial walks you end to end: create your free account, post a job, build an assessment, invite a candidate, and read the AI report. You don't need any setup, a credit card, or prior experience with Coco HR.
What you'll need
- A modern desktop web browser.
- About 10 minutes.
- A candidate to invite (or use your own email to try the flow yourself).
Step 1: Create your free account (about 2 minutes)
- Go to https://hr.cocolevio.com/sign-in and choose Sign up.
- Enter your Company Name, Your Name, Email, an optional Phone, and a Password (type it again to confirm). You can also continue with Google or Microsoft if you prefer single sign-on.
- Check your inbox for a 5-digit verification code and enter it. (You can resend the code after 30 seconds.)
That's it — you're on a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required, and you can explore every feature during the trial.
What to expect: You'll land on your Dashboard, which shows KPI cards, Quick Actions, and a pipeline overview. It's empty for now — let's fill it.
Step 2: Post a job (about 2 minutes)
- From the Dashboard, select Post a Job (or go to Jobs > New Job).
- Basic Info — enter a Job Title (required). Add a Location, Requirements, and Description if you like.
- Don't want to write the description yourself? Select AI Generate to draft one from your title and requirements. Edit the result as needed, or select Regenerate for another take.
- Select Next to move to the Template step. For now, choose decide later — you'll build a template next.
- On the Review & Publish step, select Publish job.
What to expect: Your new job appears in Jobs with the status Open. Coco HR automatically extracts the key skills from your job — you'll use those to generate assessment questions.
Step 3: Build an assessment template (about 3 minutes)
A template is the reusable blueprint for a candidate's assessment. Coco HR generates the questions for you with AI.
- Go to Templates > New Template.
- Enter a Template Name (required).
- Choose the Job Posting you just created (required). Coco HR loads that job's skills as selectable cards — keep the ones you want to test.
- Set Subjective questions per skill and Time per question (minutes). Watch the live calculator show your total assessment time.
- (Optional) Turn on Objective (multiple choice) questions and/or a Coding challenge, and set how many per skill.
- Review the Options — a practice round is included by default. Select Create Template.
What to expect: Coco HR starts generating questions in the background. On the template page you'll see a live "Generating questions X of N" banner. You can move on while it finishes.
- Go back to your job (Jobs > your job) and use Attach/Change Template to attach the template you just made.
Step 4: Add or invite a candidate (about 1 minute)
You have two ways to bring a candidate in. For this tutorial, add one directly.
- Go to Applicants > Add Applicant.
- Upload the candidate's resume (PDF or DOCX). Coco HR auto-extracts their name and email.
- Confirm the Name and Email, and pick the Job from the dropdown (open jobs only).
- Select save.
What to expect: A resume-parsing panel runs for about two minutes. You'll also see an assessment-link panel with options to Copy the link, Email link to candidate, or Preview it. Choose Email link to candidate to send the invite, or copy the link and send it yourself.
The candidate's personal assessment link looks like https://hr.cocolevio.com/assessment/{applicantId}.
Step 5: The candidate takes the AI assessment
When the candidate opens their link, Coco HR guides them through:
- A start screen to confirm their name and email and agree to a consent checkbox (recording and proctoring).
- A device check for camera, microphone, screen share, and fullscreen.
- The questions, one at a time, with a countdown timer. Answers can be typed, spoken, chosen (multiple choice), or coded, depending on your template.
You don't need to do anything while they take it. See the Candidate guide for the full experience.
Step 6: Review the AI report
- When the assessment is complete, open Applicants > the candidate > View assessment (or
/applicants/{id}/assessment). - Read the big AI Score tile and the AI evaluation scoreboard (per-metric bars).
- Scroll to the anti-cheat report for device, network, and proctoring signals, plus webcam and screen recordings.
- Expand any question to see the candidate's answer, the AI remark, and a per-metric breakdown.
What to expect: A per-question score with a badge — Meets Standard (60% or higher), Partial, or Inadequate. You can Download PDF report or Email report to a hiring manager.
What's next
- Core concepts — understand how Jobs, Templates, and Assessments fit together.
- Build assessment templates — go deeper on question types and options.
- Review AI assessment reports — read every part of the report with confidence.
