Google Places Leads (AI)
The Google Places Leads page finds real local businesses (e.g. "software companies in Austin, TX") and uses AI to research each one and score the sales opportunity — specifically, which expensive SaaS tool the company likely pays for that could be replaced with a self-hosted open-source alternative. The pipeline is Load Grids → Search → Analyze → Push to CRM.
Grid loading requires a Google Maps key, and analysis requires AI keys — see AI configuration.
Status flow
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
PENDING | Business found by Search, not yet analyzed |
ANALYZED | AI research and 0–100 opportunity score complete |
PUSHED | Lead has been sent to the lead inbox |
Load Grids
Type a city name and click Load Grids. The city is geocoded and divided into roughly 28 one-kilometer grid cells laid over the map. Searching cell by cell means the whole city gets covered systematically instead of just the downtown results a single search would return.
Search
Select one or more grid squares, enter a business query (like "software companies" or "marketing agencies") and a result limit, then click Search. For each business found, a lead is created with status PENDING containing:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Business name |
| Address | Street address |
| Website | Company website, when available |
| Phone | Business phone |
| Rating | Google rating and review count |
Results are deduped by name against existing leads, so re-running searches never creates duplicates.
Analyze
Click the per-row analyze button, or Analyze All to batch-process pending leads 10 at a time. For each business, the AI acts as a BD analyst and produces:
- A company summary
- The likely SaaS stack the company runs
- Estimated monthly SaaS spend
- An opportunity score from 0–100
- The specific SaaS to replace (e.g. Jira, HubSpot, Zendesk) and the open-source replacement to pitch (e.g. Plane, Twenty CRM, Chatwoot)
- A ready-to-send cold-email pitch
- Estimated monthly savings for the prospect
Results appear in the table's Company Intel and Opportunity columns, and each analyzed lead moves to ANALYZED.
Push to CRM
Click Push to CRM to promote the winners. Leads scoring at or above the threshold (60 by default) are copied into the google-places lead list in your lead inbox and marked PUSHED.
From there, work them like any other lead: use the cold-email pitch in a campaign (see Email campaigns) and promote qualified prospects into Companies, People, and Deals. See Leads & lead lists for the follow-on workflow.
